Patient Airlifted After Arm Amputated In Crash North Of Castaic

A man was airlifted after his arm was amputated in a crash on the 5 Freeway north of Castaic Friday.

Around 2:55 p.m. Friday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision on the northbound 5 Freeway near Quail Lake in Gorman, said Kaitlyn Aldana, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

“One patient was trapped,” Aldana said.

An approximately 50-year-old male was trapped in his vehicle and his arm was amputated in the crash, according to radio traffic.

A helicopter landed on the 5 Freeway and transported the patient to the hospital in unknown condition, according to officials.
