CASSVILLE, Mo. — Nearly one year after Cassville Dr. John Forsyth died in a case that gained national attention, the Arkansas State Crime Lab has released its autopsy report showing his death was a suicide.

According to the report, the body of Forsyth was found floating in Beaver Lake on May 30, 2023, after he was reported missing in Cassville on May 21.

Benton County Detectives were able to locate several surveillance videos of Forsyth riding a bicycle to the area of Lost Bridge at Beaver Lake. That bicycle was located near the area where Forsyth’s body was found.

The autopsy report says that Forsyth died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives say they have not found any information or evidence to dispute the medical examiner’s findings at this time.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is finalizing investigative tasks before officially closing the case.
