Lady Tigers return 7 letter-winners
A spike in numbers is what new Jennifer Young, new head coach of the Exeter girls basketball team, will contribute to growth in the program and in wins. Starting the season at 1-1, with a loss to Southwest, 44-41, and win over Thomas Jefferson, 52-37, the Lady Tigers have seven letter-winners returning to the squad, and even more newcomers aiming to contribute.

Breaking the .500 ceiling
It has be come a habit for the Cassville girls basketball team to win 14 games in 28 tries, and it’s one the Lady Wildcats want to break. At 14-14 for two consecutive seasons, Cassville Girls Basketball Coach Clayton Bagby said one of the main goals this season is to finish above .500. The last season Cassville did so was in 2017, when the Lady Wildcats were 22-5 and fell in the Class 4, District 10 semifinals to Webb City. Cassville fell in last year’s Class 4, District 12 semifinals to Aurora.

Cavaliers Drop Opener to Exeter
JOPLIN, MO – Thomas Jefferson opened their season with a non-conference game against Exeter at home Monday night. Kohl Thurman dominated the paint early on. The 6’4 sophomore got the best of several Exeter defenders, and forced fouls. Despite the fast start, Exeter’s offense came back and earned the win 52-37.
Exeter aims to set new standard
Tigers bring experience into season with more favorable matchups. It took until February for the Exeter boys basketball team to find its first win in a 4-21 campaign last year, and the Tigers hope experience over the last few years will translate to a more competitive squad in the gym this season.
