New Roseville tea cafe opens, whisking up matcha straight from Japan
A new tea cafe that serves a popular Japanese green tea beverage has opened in west Roseville. Yugen Teahouse is whisking matcha and scooping boba at 4021 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd., The tea house’s online profile said it uses “premium” matcha and milk tea and brews its tea slowly. One of its signature drinks is a “Dragon Balls Black Milk Tea,” which is described as a “rich and creamy” black milk tea with chewy boba. The matcha is sourced directly from Shizuoka, Japan, according to the cafe’s Instagram page. Yugen also makes its fruit purees daily, which are usually served on top of its matcha, which includes strawberry, mango, ube and banana flavors. Yugen also has a milk tea menu, serving oolong, jasmine, black and brown sugar oolong milk teas, and a new marble Thai tea. For customers wanting a lighter sweet beverage, there are smoothies and fruit teas such as peach oolong, lychee oolong, strawberry jasmine and a coco banana cloud drink, which has a banana foam topping on coconut water. Yugen opened in the Woodcreek Village shopping plaza in September. The tea cafe replaced the Old Gold Exchange, which started in Roseville in 1973. Yugen Teahouse is open from

He's crossed the US on foot 3 times. Meet Sacramento's real deal Forrest Gump
Dennis Godby estimates he’s heard quips related to the 1994 film “Forrest Gump” perhaps 1,000 times. The title character of that film runs across the United States more than once. Godby, a 70-year-old naturopathic doctor who lives in West Sacramento, likes to tell people that while “Forrest Gump” was a movie, he’s the real deal. In September, Godby finished a roughly 3,450-mile walk that he made across the U.S. in five stages over five years. It was only his latest adventure. In 1978, Godby ran about 1,420 miles, from Corvallis, Oregon, to near Calgary. He ran across the U.S. in the mid-1980s and again in 2011, the second time with his two sons and his nephew. On a recent day, Godby said he felt like he could immediately start walking from Seattle, where he finished his recent cross-country walk, to Sacramento. “For the first few weeks when I get back every year, I really miss it,” Godby said during an interview at his office in midtown Sacramento. “Because I’m back to, a lot of times, the mundane. And even though I like what I do, that is really exciting, being out on the road.” Godby is part of an eclectic
