Fashion for empowerment: Cabi's Love Local event
In a heartwarming act of community support, the Cabi Foundation held its annual "Love Local" event in Joplin, updating the wardrobes of 40 clients from the Lafayette House, a local shelter aiding victims of domestic abuse. More than 400 high-quality clothing items were provided free of charge, giving these women the opportunity to outfit themselves for various aspects of their new beginnings, including job interviews and court appearances.

GMFS Pick of the Litter!
Good Morning our Furry Friends! On todays Pick of the Litter, we get to meet Mr. Junior! Junior, is a wonderful 10ish week-old kitty who is super super lovable and playful! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation, all of the adoptions are currently $20! Also, be sure to check out the Joplin Humane Society for little Junior and all the other wonderful fur babies their shelter currently has! Also, get ready for their annual Adopt-A-Thon happening soon! Lastly, please head to joplinhumane.org to make any donations of food and money, or to volunteer as well!
GMFS Carthage Parks and Rec!
Abi Almandinger from the Carthage Parks and Rec Department came by to get you all hyped up for the summer! This week has been rough for them, as Carthage has taken some severe weather recently and has lost many trees across their local parks. Additionally, they’re getting ready for Memorial Day to kick off the summer! There’s currently two pools, one at Municipal Park and a kiddy pool at Central Park being prepped and cleaned for the season. It only cost $3 to get in and they will be open Monday through Saturday 12-6 and Sunday 1-6. The Kiddy Pool is Monday and Friday 12-4. There will also be an advanced Sushi class this Saturday, but it is already full. There will be another one coming in June so be on the look out for details! Connect2Culture Announces the Concert Truck
Connect2Culture is revisiting its nomadic performing arts roots (before it came home to the Cornell Complex) by bringing The Concert Truck to Joplin for seven special performances held throughout the community from May 15th through 19th. This 16-foot box truck transforms into the ultimate mobile concert hall, inviting audiences to experience firsthand how music can bring communities together in extraordinary ways.

Love to read? Well Lori Crockett from the Joplin Public Library wants you to expand your horizons with reading and other fun activities! The libraries’ main goal is to enrich the community through literacy or by doing other academic activities the library offers. The Library itself has really taken the time to make this library a family place for all ages! There are also tons of things you can do that you don’t even need a library card such as some of their events, using Wi-Fi, and meeting/study rooms if needed. They also have their library of things to rent high ticket items with your library card! There will be an event on Wednesday through Sunday with 1 truck hosting 7 free shows/concerts!
