Carbondale is looking down for its future in heat energy. The Carbondale Community Geothermal Coalition held an open house and professional workshop on Wednesday at the Third Street Center, which is set to be the benefactor of a new Thermal Energy Network, using deep-earth sources for heating and cooling. If everything goes according to plan, construction on the first phase of the TEN could begin around this time next year.

Firefighters act fast to snuff midvalley wildfire
Firefighters from multiple agencies scrambled to snuff a small wildfire that broke out at the base of Crown Mountain at about 2:10 p.m. Wednesday. Firefighters from Roaring Fork Fire Rescue and assisting agencies climbed an estimated 300 feet up the steep slope directly behind Happy Day Ranch, where Hooks Lane and Emma Road converge in an elbow. The firefighters ran water hoses up the slope and established a perimeter around the fire in the shape of a large triangle.

It’s titled “Mirasol: Looking at the Sun,” and it spotlights a community of generational family farms in Pueblo. Roaring Fork Fire Rescue responds quickly to wildland fire, preventing a potential disaster
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - On Wednesday, April 24th, the Roaring Fork Fire Rescue was dispatched to a wildland fire near 403 East Fork Lane, Basalt. Upon arrival crews were faced with a 1-acre wildland fire burning in grass, oak brush and timber at the base of Crown Mountain. Winds were gusting around 10 miles per hour and spread the fire up toward Crown Mountain. Firefighters hiked up the terrain in order to extinguish the flames and to lay a wetline around the fire. In doing so, they were able to contain the fire at approximately 5 acres.

Just wanted to send out a thanks to the community for coming out and riding Bell Chair on closing day. We lift operators and maintenance folk put a lot of work in year-round to make sure that thing can spin and often it feels quite pointless. To see it running with over 900 smiling faces in the seats made it feel like, just maybe, it isn’t all for naught.
