Celebrate 'Star Wars' Day. Original film to be shown for free Saturday at Centennial Plaza

CANTON − May the fourth be with you.

"Star Wars" Day will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Saturday with a free showing of the original movie in the highly popular franchise at 7 p.m. at Centennial Plaza in downtown Canton.

The community movie night is being presented by the Downtown Canton Partnership and Canton Palace Theatre. Centennial Plaza, an outdoor venue, is at 330 Court Ave. NW along Market Avenue N. "Star Wars: Episode IV − A New Hope" was released in 1977.

The movie will be shown rain or shine, said Georgia Paxos, executive director of the Palace Theatre.

"This event promises an evening of galactic fun for the whole family," the Downtown Canton Partnership announced on Facebook. "Bring your lightsabers and friends to immerse yourself in the timeless saga of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Darth Vader."

Jerzee's Cafe at Centennial Plaza will be serving Star Wars-themed drinks − the "Blue Lightsaber," featuring Bicardi Silver Rum, Blue Curacao, blueberry puree and Sprite, and the "Dark Side," made with Patron Tequila, Triple Sec, Grenadine, simple syrup, house-made sour mix, and a splash of orange juice while served with a black sugar rim.
