Cherokee Schools Leaders Named Goshen Spirit Award Winners
Two Cherokee County School District leaders were recently honored by a community nonprofit organization for supporting children in need. CCSD Student Support Specialist Tara Quinn-Schuldt and Teasley Middle School Assistant Principal John Carter were named as the recipients of the 2024 Goshen Spirit Award presented by Goshen Valley. The award was established to honor individuals who “have given unreservedly of themselves, their time and their talents to support the youth of Goshen Valley.” The organization provides homes and support services for foster youth. The presentations to eight honorees, including Quinn-Schuldt and Carter, were made by Goshen Valley CEO Zach Blend during the organization’s spring luncheon in Canton.

I-575 N in Canton Open After Crash
Interstate 575 northbound is open after it was shut down at Highway 140 due to a crash, according to local law enforcement agencies. The Canton Police Department reported that one car crashed Tuesday morning; the driver was transported to a hospital. A photo shared with the Tribune showed the vehicle left the roadway and went into the nearby woodline. "CPD is working to open the lanes as quickly as possible," Canton Police Chief Marty Ferrell said in an email.
