While the work from the Oregon Department of Transportation along Highway 99E in Canby is once again rolling along, Clackamas County is about to begin a new project in the city.

The county plans to widen Ivy Street to three lanes, add bicycle lanes between 1st Avenue and Philander Lee Elementary School, add street lighting and install a signal at the Township Road intersection.

The project will get fully underway sometime in late May and continue through December 2025. And with that, motorists can expect flagging and lane closures for vehicles and bicycles daily during construction, with delays of up to 20 minutes. Driveway access and pedestrian access will be provided.

ODOT and Clackamas County are coordinating on traffic impacts.

    Highway 99E Update

Reconstructing the right-hand lanes is occurring in sections, one direction at a time. ODOT said it will finish each section by paving both lanes.

The first section of new pavement on Highway 99E southbound between Berg Parkway and Elm Street is completed. Work has switched to the other side of the street. Pavement work also continues on Highway 99E southbound from Pine Street to Locust Street.

Here's a look at the current impacts:

Around-the-clock lane closures continue: Both directions between Pine Street and Berg Parkway. Watch for travel lanes to be shifted. Left turn restrictions where lanes and the center median are closed.Side street closures: No access to or from Birch Street. No access to or from Ivy Street.Accessible detours available for people moving through the area.Business access is open during construction. Watch for blue cones, business access signs and flaggers assisting with business access.
