Ride, sip and enjoy: St. Josef's bike ride, BBQ ready to roll

Spend a part of the Memorial Day weekend peddling, sampling wine and enjoying a barbecue in the Willamette Valley.

How? Well, you can celebrate Oregon Wine Month with a leisurely bike ride along quiet roads, past vineyards, and farms just outside of Canby. Top it off with a barbecue and you’ve got a pretty good day going.

St Josef’s Winery will hold its annual Bike Ride & BBQ on Sunday, May 26. The non-serious ride begins at 11 a.m. and takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes while meandering along 15 miles of quiet, uncongested roads.

The relaxed ride starts and ends at St Josef’s and features new wine releases including the Gamay and Sparkling Rose, along with a barbecue lunch and live music.

St Josef’s grows and makes wine from its five estate vineyards, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Gewurztraminer. Its philosophy is to make distinctive food-friendly wines and a line of reserve wines for special occasions like this special bike ride and barbecue.

St Josef’s has been recognized for its sustainability with both Salmon Safe and LIVE (Low Impact Viticulture and Enology) certification.

The Bike Ride & BBQ will include food prepared by the Flying Barracuda BBQ and music from the Mark Seymour Trio.

Advance bike ride with tasting, a souvenir glass and $10 voucher towards lunch is $30. Ala carte barbecue lunches for non-riders are served until they sell out.
