    Canby’s annual prayer breakfast coming Thursday

    CANBY: The 20th Annual Canby Prayer Breakfast will be held Thursday, May 2, beginning at 7 a.m. at Cutsforth’s Market Town Hall.

    Canby Mayor Brian Hodson will speak, and local churches will be represented to help lead prayer for various groups within Canby.

    Friends of Canby Library bookstore plans extra hours

    CANBY: The Friends of the Canby Public Library Book Garden bookstore will be open late during the First Thursday Downtown Night Market from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.

    The library will be having extra activities as well during the monthly market.

    Blood drive slated for Canby’s Providence Immediate Care

    CANBY: Bloodworks Northwest will host a blood drive on Friday, March 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 200 SE Hazel Dell Way in the Providence Immediate Care Canby parking lot.

    Large art and craft market setting up at convention center

    PORTLAND: The Crafty Wonderland Spring Art & Craft Market 2024 will be held Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at Oregon Convention Center, 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Crafts are for sale and on display to inspire the artist in you.

    Garden supplies, art and more coming to fairgrounds

    CANBY: The annual Spring Garden Fair will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5 at the Clackamas County Event Center fairgrounds in Canby.

    There will be plants, tools, workshops, classes, and more to explore during the event that runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

    Admission is $7 for a single day pass and $12 for a weekend pass. The event also offers ticket pre-sales through the venue webpage. And parking is free. For more information, go to www.springgardenfair.org or check the Facebook page at SpringGardenFair.

    Woodburn Library ‘Friends’ slate several upcoming events

    WOODBURN: Friends of the Woodburn Library announced several upcoming events taking place at the library, 280 Garfield St.

    There will be a “Poetry Walk” at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. “Coffee Talk” will take place beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8 and Saturday, Aug. 10. The next book sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.

    The next Friends meeting will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20.

    Aurora church plans celebration for 125 years

    AURORA: Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora will celebrate 125 years of ministry the weekend of May 4-5. Events will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, and feature a telling of the story of the church community in song, story, and photography. An old-fashioned cookie potluck will follow.

    On Sunday, May 5, at 10 a.m., there will be a worship service with Holy Communion. A hosted luncheon in the fellowship hall will follow the service.

    ‘Latin Night’ event hopes to connect community and culture

    GERVAIS: There will be a “Latin Night: Connecting Community & Culture” on Saturday, May 4, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Gervais High School, 300 Douglas Ave.

    The event will include a cruise-in car show from 3 to 4 p.m. with judging taking place from 4 to 6 p.m. Entry is $5. Cars, trucks, and bikes are welcome. There will also be music from Gervais Middle School at 5:30 p.m. and Aguilas de Oro at 6:30 p.m. Ballet Folklorico will take place at 5 p.m. at GMS and 6 p.m. at GHS.

    COLTON: Colton Elementary School will have its Kindergarten Round-up on Wednesday, May 8. The school offers full-day kindergarten classes Monday through Thursday.

    NMSD looking for new board, budget committee members

    AURORA: North Marion School District is looking for someone to serve the remainder of the Board of Directors Position 4, which runs through June 30, 2025.

    The district is also seeking individuals interested in serving on its budget committee.

    Candidates must live within the district boundary for at least a year, not be employed by the district, and be a registered voter. Applications are available online at www.nmarion.k12.or.us. Applications with letters of interest are due by 3 p.m. on Monday, May 6.

    Brews, fun and fundraising set for fairgrounds in Canby

    CANBY: The Canby Brewfest will be held May 10-11 at the Clackamas County Event Center in Canby. The event runs from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday, May 10, and 2 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.

    There will be more than 40 beverages on tap, as well as a wide array of food trucks and live music on the grounds. The event is also a fundraiser for the fairground’s new multipurpose building.

    Mother’s Day tea set for Newell Pioneer Village

    CHAMPOEG: The historic Newell Pioneer Village will hold a Mother’s Day tea from 1 to 3 p.m. May 11 at the facility adjacent to Champoeg State Heritage Area south of Newberg.     Woodburn Police gearing up for a May 18 open house

    WOODBURN: Woodburn Police Department announced that it is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at 1060 Mt. Hood Ave.

    Police Chief Marty Pilcher said there will be plenty of activities and free hot dogs and hamburgers.

    Annual UFO festival lands in McMinnville May 17-18

    MCMINNVILLE: McMenamins 24th Annual UFO Fest will be May 17-18 in McMinnville and will feature speakers at the town’s community center, including former Navy pilot Ryan Graves; Pulitzer Prize finalist, journalist and author Garrett Graff, who “will address the realities of the government’s quest to understand UFOs;” and Roderick Martin, whose talk is headlined “Project B.L.A.C.K. and the Hidden Truths.”

    Canby’s Farmers Market is up and running every Saturday

    CANBY: The Canby Farmers Market opened its 2024 is now open and will run every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown Canby on N. Holly Street between NW 2nd and 4th avenues.

    The market will run into October and produce from local farmers, hand crafters, food artisans and plenty of other vendors.

    NMSD begins superintendent search, seeking feedback

    AURORA: North Marion School District announced that it has officially launched its search for a new superintendent as interim Superintendent Bill Rhoades plans to retire on June 30.

    More Molalla town halls slated for later in the year

    MOLALLA: The City of Molalla will hold three more town halls to offer residents the chance to talk about city-related topics in a little more relaxed atmosphere.

    The next town hall will be on June 20. The final two will be held Sept. 19 and Nov. 21. The meetings will be at the Molalla Civic Center (315 Kennel Ave.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

    Christian writers conference returns to Canby Grove in June

    CANBY: The 2024 Cascade Christian Writers Conference will be held June 23-26 at the Canby Grove Christian Center. The conference is a way for writers, or aspiring writers to not only meet with literary agents, acquisition agents, and inspirational mentors, but take part in myriad workshops targeted to particular parts of the writing process.

    Hotrod Dreamworks ready for 15th edition of its car show

    WOODBURN: Applications are now open for the 2024 Woodburn Fiesta Mexican Court. To be eligible for the Woodburn Fiesta Mexicana Court, individuals must be a student enrolled in any of the following high schools: Woodburn, Gervais, North Marion, Mt. Angel, St. Paul or Silverton. A student who lives within the listed school districts and is home schooled or attending a high school equivalent institution or charter school is also eligible to apply; A high school Junior or graduating senior during the 2023/2024 school year; In possession of a 2.5 GPA of or better (must submit current high school transcript); Bi-lingual in both English and Spanish.

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 2004 is planning its 20th class reunion with a “save the date” announcement for the Saturday, July 27, event at Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm.

    Canby High class of 1974 organizing a 50th class reunion

    CANBY: The Canby High School class of 1974 is in the process of planning its 50th class reunion on Sunday, Sept. 8, at Merrywood Farms in Carus.

    Portland Timbers supporters group meets in Canby

    CANBY: The local Portland Timbers support group, Timbers Army Clackamas County Frogmen, will meet at the F.O.B. Taproom in Canby cheer on the MLS team for every game this season, except those on Wednesday nights.

    The game will be shown on a large pull-down screen and the fun will include snacks and patches and stickers for sale. Beverages are available on site, and food can be purchased outside of the taproom and brought in during the game. All area Timbers fans are encouraged to stop by.

    Throw-back music and classic car show set for Colton

    COLTON: The annual Summer Finally Got Here concert and classic car show will be held Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Aspen Meadow Amphitheater, 24323 S. Upper Highland Road in Colton.
