AEP works to restore power after Sunday storms leave thousands without
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ)- Several southwest Virginia counties felt the effects of Sunday night’s storm, some more than others. Appalachian Power spokesperson George Porter said, while they were able to get 35,000 customers’ power back on in the first 24 hours, they are still working on Giles and Pulaski, where thousands are still without.

One of the community’s favorite ways to spend time on Staunton River is right around the corner…the 48th Annual Long Island Float Day (nickname Fun Float) on fourth Saturday, June 22! As usual, the float down the river will begin at Long Island Ruritan Club and travel down to the Brookneal boat ramp. Floating devices of all sizes and shapes will be seen. Sometimes riders dress up in colorful costumes.
