A Cameron man will serve time in jail and on probation for causing injury to his passenger while driving intoxicated and eluding a police officer.

Roger P. McGee, 53, was accused in June of leading police on a high-speed chase, and rolling his vehicle and injuring his passenger, who needed to be airlifted to a hospital.

McGee pleaded no contest on Feb. 2 to a felony charge of fleeing an officer resulting in bodily harm and a misdemeanor count of causing injury while operating under the influence. Judge J.M. Bitney found him guilty.

Two misdemeanors of causing injury while reckless driving and causing injury while operating with a PAC were dismissed but read into the record.

For causing injury while operating under the influence, Bitney sentenced McGee to 90 days in jail with huber/electronic monitoring.

McGee must report to jail by May 1. His driver’s license was revoked for one year and he must have an ignition interlock device installed for a year as well.

McGee also will serve three years on probation for fleeing an officer resulting in bodily harm. The judge gave him 90 days to write a letter of apology to the family that had their property damaged, and he must maintain absolute sobriety.
