Murder suspect sentenced to jail for suspected drugged driving as homicide case progresses
JACKSON, MI – Klaira Diann Mishaw will serve 93 days in jail for contempt of court while she awaits trial accused of aiding in a homicide. Jackson County District Judge Robert Gaecke sentenced Mishaw to serve the 93 days in jail shortly after she pleaded no contest Wednesday, May 1, to driving while impaired and obstructing police while she was on $100,000 bond for open murder.
Blissfield man dies in ORV crash south of Palmyra
BLISSFIELD TWP. — A Blissfield man died Saturday after his off-road vehicle crashed in a field south of Palmyra. Troopers from the Michigan State Police were dispatched around 9:30 a.m. to the 7000 block of Scott Highway, according to a release from the Monroe MSP Post. Troopers determined a yellow Honda side-by-side was traveling southbound in the field when the driver lost control. The ORV rolled over multiple times.

Drunken man arrested for firing 10 shots through window during domestic dispute
JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A highly intoxicated man was arrested Saturday after opening fire inside his home during a domestic dispute. The victim reported getting in the dispute before he pulled out a firearm and fired 10 shots through the back window of the home, causing the victim to flee and call 911, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Woman convicted of murder in parking dispute won’t have case reviewed by Supreme Court
JACKSON, MI – The state’s highest court will not hear the case of a woman convicted of fatally shooting another woman during a parking dispute. The Michigan Supreme Court on April 29 declined to hear the appeal of Mackenzie Lynn Quarrels, convicted of second-degree murder for shooting to death 25-year-old Krashawna Emond Walker on March 20, 2021 near Jackson.
