CAMBRIDGE — A Federalsburg man who was wanted by Cambridge Police for attempted murder and assault was arrested Wednesday after fleeing Talbot County Sheriff's deputies.

Adrian Jerrod Jenkins, 29, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, fleeing and eluding, driving without a license and other traffic violations, according to a news release from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office.

The release said Jenkins was driving east on Ocean Gateway in the Trappe area when deputies attempted to stop him for moving violations. Police said deputies also determined Jenkins' vehicle registration was suspended.

According to the news release, Jenkins accelerated in an attempt to elude deputies. He traveled into Dorchester County, where the Talbot deputies were joined in the pursuit by Dorchester County Sheriff's Office deputies.

In Cambridge, Jenkins lost control of his vehicle, hitting a retaining wall and disabling his vehicle on Academy Street near Cedar Street, police said.

Police said that upon taking Jenkins into custody, they discovered through a records check that he was wanted for attempted murder and assault.

Jenkins was taken to the Talbot County Central Booking Center. Police said he was held pending further court action.

The Cambridge Police Department, along with the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office assisted in the incident.
