Watermelon Growers Meeting
A Watermelon Production grower meeting was held Tuesday, February 20th from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempstead County Cooperative Extension Service office at 1800 East Third. Spring Hill School Board
The Spring Hill School Board met on Tuesday (2-20). The meeting started with a prayer followed by the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and the financial report. There wasn’t an elementary report other than the enrollment numbers as the principal was absent. The total enrollment for the elementary is 367 with 16 of those being pre K.

Hope School Board
The Hope School Board met in the high school auditorium on Tuesday (2-22). First were community recognitions and a discussion of the school calendar. There were 500 survey responses. The options are either a modified calendar or a modified hybrid. It is not a year-round calendar as it starts either on the 18th of July and gets out in either May or June.

Nevada County Tables Discussion About Future of F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix
The County Commission of Clark County (Nev.) on Tuesday postponed a scheduled agenda item that could ultimately determine the fate of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. While no one is yet threatening to cancel the race or end its current contract early, an issue has been raised by County Commission chairperson Tick Segerblom. Segerblom recently pointed out that Clark County never signed the contract on deal that was reached between F1 and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
Trio honored at council meeting
PRESCOTT – Tuesday was honors night at the February meeting of the Prescott City Council. The meeting began with Mayor Terry Oliver recognizing Tony Gillard’s 32-years of officiating youth basketball. Oliver said Gillard also officiates fifth and sixth grade football. Next up was Satara Williams, who was honored for completing 21 hours of training to become certified as a municipal official with the Arkansas Municipal League. Patricia Roberts was also lauded for being certified with the AML, having more than 40 hours of training.
