Lady Wildcats Season Ends With 3 to 1 Loss
The Brookeland Lady Wildcats softball team ended their season as a Regional Finalist when they lost game 2 of the best two out of three series with the Neches Lady Tigers 3 to 1 Saturday in Hudson. Brookeland lost game one on Friday by the score of 6 to 2. Neches which was a final four team last year needed seven full innings to eliminate Brookeland and secure their place in the UIL State Tournament.
Wine shop owners unhappy with ordinance banning alcohol in Jasper city parks
The owners of a wine shop in Jasper are unhappy with the Jasper City Council for passing an ordinance which bans alcohol in city parks, and they’ve let their feelings be known to the mayor and councilmembers. Steve and Susanne Talcott own Texas Wine Shop & Bistro along with a 23 acre vineyard just south of Jasper and they’ve signed off on a letter which detailed their dismay with the ordinance.

KIRBYVILLE, Texas — A nonprofit in Kirbyville is helping people recover following last month's storms. The main focus of the Rural Homeless Network is helping veterans. The Rural Homeless Network provided a tiny home for a veteran who was displaced because of flooding and they plan on building more.

Tree falls on man clearing storm debris, breaking his legs, Beauregard sheriff says
BEAUREGARD PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A man was injured while trying to clear a fallen tree in Beauregard Parish Friday, according to authorities. Residents were using an 18-wheeler to clear the tree near Reneau Road, off La. 12 northeast of DeQuincy, when the tree snapped and fell on one of them, Sheriff Mark Herford said. The tree broke both of the man’s legs below his knees.
Deep East Texas counties report blocked roadways, power outages
DEEP EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - Several counties in Deep East Texas have reported flooded areas and power outages after weekend storms. According to TxDOT Lufkin around 5 a.m. Monday, Houston County has experienced flooding on FM 229 at Hurricane Bayou and FM 227 at Bracken and San Pedro creeks. The far right lane of SH 21 East has also been closed due to a slope failure about one mile west of the Cherokee County line.
