Soaking Sunday morning followed by cloudy afternoon, evening showers

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A soaking Sunday morning will be followed by some rain-free afternoon hours and then the return of more evening showers before conditions dry out during the overnight hours.

"Should taper off to just scattered showers, we expect a decent amount of dry time as we go through the afternoon," National Weather Service meteorologist John Hitchcock tells WBEN Sunday morning. "Not a total loss today."

Scattered showers will return late in the day and evening, Hitchcock notes, and even a thunderstorm can't be ruled out.

The work week will see drier conditions, Hitchcock tells WBEN. "We dry out for Monday and most of Tuesday, and fairly mild temperatures for most for the week, we'll be in 60's and 70's for most of the week."

Some unsettled weather and showers are expected midweek.

"It is going to trend coolers, as well, late in the week. Next weekend might see highs only in the 50's."
