WEATHER: Fire weather watch expanded to include entire listening area Sunday
Potential fire danger is expanding across the KVOE listening area. The entire listening area is now under a fire weather watch between Sunday afternoon and evening. The National Weather Service has issued the watch for a number of factors that could be conducive to fire activity throughout the day Sunday including low relative humidity, high winds between 15-25 mph with gusts possibly as high as 40 mph and dry fuels.

Elk County Deputy Assists in Vehicle Pursuit
Elk County Sheriff deputies assist Greenwood County Sheriff in a pursuit. Earlier today, Elk County dispatch received a call from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s office that they had a deputy in a vehicle chase that was heading into Elk County. Deputies were dispatched and located the vehicle at Highway 99 and Rock Road. The Greenwood County officer had a man in custody but a woman fled the scene.

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) held its 15th annual Top Ten Freshmen ceremony, an event honoring ten exceptional students. The ceremony, initiated in 2009, is jointly sponsored by the NEO Presidential Partners and the NEO Success Center. Stream Advisory for Onion Creek Near Hamilton Rescinded
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment rescinds the stream advisory for Onion Creek to Willow Creek north of Hamilton in Greenwood County. The original advisory was issued in February 6th due to water contamination from a crude oil tank leak. Water testing has determined that contaminant levels in the water are within normal levels and the KDHE has determined that the stream is safe for wading and livestock use.
