Area weather radio transmitter down

BUDE — Following severe storms, which damaged three homes in Lincoln County and injured a man in Lawrence County, National Weather Service reports one more loss. The area weather radio transmitter is down in Bude.

The NOAA All-Hazards Transmitter radio station KIH-48 in Bude serves Southwest Mississippi including Lincoln, Franklin, Copiah and Lawrence Counties. NWS Jackson stated the station is off the air due to a power outage. Technicians have been contacted to correct the problem.

“During the outage, persons across the listening area will need to tune to commercial radio or television outlets for the latest weather information,” NWS Jackson stated in a public announcement.

Customers in Lincoln and Lawrence Counties continue to not have power as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Magnolia Electric reports 400 customers in Lincoln County are without power, the number was around 3,000 Monday morning. Power is still out for 229 Lawrence County  Magnolia Electric customers.

Entergy reports 132 customers in Lincoln County are without power. Southwest Electric reports 44 custoemrs are without power in Lincoln County.

More severe storms c ould be on the way Thursday.

Mississippi Highway Patrol reported eight wrecks happened in the span of four hours Monday in Lincoln County. Six of those wrecks were on I-55 with only one injury reported. Two wrecks were on US51. All of the wrecks worked by MHP in Lincoln County Monday were single vehicle wrecks.
