North Dakota and Minnesota receive critical bridge funding

As part of the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development grant program, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $24 million to replace three bridges over the Red River of the North. These bridges span North Dakota and Minnesota, linking the two states. The project will include replacing three Parker steel high truss bridges with clear-span designs and 850-foot abutments. These bridge replacements will ensure safety, remove barriers and increase economic competitiveness and opportunity.

North Dakota Highway Patrol cites driver speeding over twice the limit, who said they were speeding because they were trying to get to a store before it closed

North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a speeding stop in Hague after a driver was clocked traveling 55 mph in a 25 mph zone on Highway 11. According to the Highway Patrol, the driver told troopers they were speeding because they were trying to get to Costco before it closed. The stop resulted in a $110 fine and nine points on the driver’s record.

North Dakota Gas Prices Continue To Fall Before Fourth Of July, But Remain Much Higher Than Last Year

Gas prices continue to come down in North Dakota, although more slowly than in previous weeks. AAA reports the price for regular unleaded is $3.66 per gallon. That’s eight cents cheaper than a week ago and about 30 cents cheaper than a month ago. Prices are still 70 cents higher than during 4th of July week last year.

Vision Zero offers discount code for sober ride from Red River Valley Fair

FARGO (KFGO/Prairie Public) – Visitors to the Red River Valley Fair this year will have an option to receive a discount on a safe ride home via the LYFT app. ND Sober Ride is offering ten dollar off discount codes to fairgoers for one ride. Kelly Aberle is Impaired Driving Program Manager with the North Dakota Department of Transportation Safety Division. She says this is the fifth year ND Sober Ride has been offered at the fair.
