Simonsen Looks Ahead To School Improvements
Culbertson native Nicole Simonsen says her first year as the Culbertson Superintendent of Schools has featured many memorable highlights. “As our class of 2024 crossed the graduation stage, I asked myself, ‘How could this first year in Culbertson have possibly gone so fast?’ I think the saying, ‘time flies when you are having fun’ sums it up best! This year was loaded with awesome student accomplishments and forward movement from our team,” Simonsen said.
Fish Sampled At Ike’s
Seventh graders from Culbertson visited Ike’s Fishing Pond & Waling path May 21. Marc Kloker, Jared Krebs and Cody Hayden from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks were on hand to sample fish and declared the pond a healthy habitat for its population of perch and trout. Dethman, Wilson Place At Class C State Track Meet
Froid/Lake’s Mason Dethman and Bainville’s Elsie Wilson each earned All-State honors during the Class C state track meet in Great Falls during the weekend. Dethman, a senior, placed in four individual events at the meet. The Red Hawks scored 14 points for 12th place in the boys’ standings.
American Legion Hosts Memorial Day Program
Thomas Mann Post #81 of the American Legion in Culbertson hosted a Memorial Day program at the legion hall Monday, May 27. Incoming post commander Christopher Petersen was master of ceremonies and delivered the main address, which centered on the sacrifices made by veterans since WWII, including a special emphasis on the challenges faced by bomber squadrons.

CHS Junior Budurean Heads Home To Romania
Seventeen year old junior Florian Budurean has been living in Culbertson with Cassandra and Eric Bergum and their family and attending Culbertson High School this year as part of a year long foreign exchange program. Budurean said he qualified for the program after winning a scholarship contest in his home region of Banat in Romania. “The Bergums chose me,” he told the Community News, adding, “they are the best people and I am very grateful.”
