    Bristol, Virginia Fire Department receives smoke detector grant

    BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — The Bristol, Virginia Fire Department was awarded a Community Risk Reduction Smoke Alarm grant, the department announced on Monday.

    The grant was awarded through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and aims to enhance fire and life safety of residences in Bristol, Virginia.

    The fire department will receive a supply of smoke detectors that will be installed in Bristol, Virginia homes for free.

    New retail store, MINISO, coming to the Mall at Johnson City

    Renters or those who lease can also receive a free smoke detector from the owner of their rental property.

    For a free smoke detector, call the Bristol, Virginia Fire Department at (276) 645-7420. Smoke detectors will be available while supplies last.

    The department stated they hope to begin installation in June.
