Lotto warning to check ticket as $1 million Mega Millions jackpot remains unclaimed – and it was bought at Stop & Shop

LOTTERY players should check their numbers for a $1 million Mega Millions prize.

Someone unknowingly changed their life after buying a lottery ticket for a February 2 Mega Millions drawing.

Rhode Island residents should pay extra close attention.

The winner bought their ticket at a Stop & Shop in Bristol, 40 minutes southeast of Newport.

They matched five balls to win $1 million and were just one number short of winning the jackpot.

In this case, the numbers to look for are 11, 22, 42, 64, and 69.

The missed Mega ball number was 18.

Players have one year from the draw date to claim their prize.

This means that the prize will be transferred to the State's General Fund if the winner doesn't come forward by February 2, 2025.

HOW TO PLAY

Mega Millions is a draw game that started in 1996.

Drawings happen every Tuesday and Friday at 11 pm Eastern.

The point of the game is for players to match their ticket numbers with the randomly drawn balls.

First, they choose five numbers between 1 and 70 for the white balls.

For the golden Mega ball, players choose one number between 1 and 25.

Matching all six balls wins the jackpot, but other combinations can win non-jackpot prizes.

The odds are one in 302,575,350 for winning $1 million.

Ways to win Mega Millions

Players can win Mega Millions by matching various combinations.

While anyone would love to win the jackpot, not everyone can. Here are all the different ways to win Mega Millions:

• Matching the mega ball alone wins $2.
• The mega ball plus one white ball wins $4.
• Any three balls win $10.
• Three white balls and the mega ball wins $200.
• Four white balls win $500.
• Four white balls and the mega ball wins $10,000.
• Five white balls win $1 million.
• Matching all five white balls and the mega ball wins the jackpot.

POWER PRIZE

Powerball players would be wise to check old tickets from last November.

A $2 million prize will expire on May 23, and the ticket was purchased at a Clinton Liquor store 20 miles east of Des Moines, Iowa.

The drawing happened on November 25, 2023.

Players should check for 27, 33, 63, 66, 68, and 9 for the Powerball.

Since the player purchased Power Play with their ticket for an extra dollar, their prize doubled from $1 million to $2 million.

The winner should make an appointment at lotto headquarters in Clive if they find the ticket before the deadline.

Plus, two other $10,000 Mega Millions prizes from Rhode Island will expire on August 8 and October 3, 2024.
