According to lottery officials, an Illinois woman was in "complete shock" after winning $1 million on a ticket that a gas station patron had given her earlier this week.

According to a press release, the woman got the Lucky Day Lotto ticket from a frequent customer at a Fas Mart in Loves Park, around 85 miles northwest of Chicago .

The $1 ticket won the Monday, April 22 midday drawing because it matched all five numbers. The numbers that won were 25, 27, 3, 4, 6, and 6. The fortunate jackpot winner chose to stay anonymous and covered her face as she snapped a picture with her large cheque.

“Everything happens for a reason,” she told lottery officials when she claimed her prize. The woman stated that she intends to help her grandfather and purchase a new car and home with the money. She added that any additional money will go into her savings. The Fas Mart shop will get 10% of the $10,000 prize for selling the winning ticket.

The Lucky Day Lotto jackpot has odds of almost one in 1.2 million. In comparison, your odds of winning the Powerball or Mega Millions big prize are significantly lower at roughly 1 in 292.2 million and 1 in 302.6 million, respectively.

Still, only Illinois allows players to participate in the twice-daily drawings of the Lucky Day Lotto. According to lottery authorities, more than 4 million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold so far this year, with players taking home a total of more than $22 million in prizes.

Using her children's birthdays as her lucky numbers, an Illinois woman won a $1.4 million lotto prize in March, according to state lottery authorities.

The Illinois Lottery only knows the winner of the Wednesday, March 6 Lucky Day Lotto as "Lucky Mom," who learned she had won when her infant woke up in the middle of the night and began to wail.

"My baby woke up crying, and after tucking them back into bed, I had trouble falling back asleep. So to pass the time, I opened the lottery app on my phone, and I couldn’t believe it when it showed that I had just won $1.4 million! – absolutely wackadoodle," she told Illinois Lottery.

"I’ve played Lucky Day Lotto here and there, and when I do, I use my kids’ birthdays as my lucky numbers," she added. "I have the best job in the world: I’m a stay at home mom, and I already feel very lucky and blessed for where I’m at in life – but today, the word ‘lucky’ took on a whole new meaning."
