BRICK TOWNSHIP — The township approved its municipal budget of $117,737,525, which will see a tax rate of .792, a 3.8% increase from the previous year, at the Tuesday, April 23 council meeting.

The average assessed valuation of a home in Brick Township is $303,417, and will see a tax bill  increase of $87.99 from the previous year.

The average residential tax payment for 2024 will be $2,403, as compared to last year’s $2,315, which is an increase of 3.8%.

Mayor Lisa Crate said, “Since its introduction, we have worked hard to ensure that this budget is fiscally responsible and sound in its stability to fund municipal services. The amount to be raised by taxes before you tonight has been decreased by over $1,000,000” from when the budget was first introduced, she said.

The decrease in the taxes to be raised for municipal purposes was due to the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority (BTMUA) providing the township with $1,000,000 toward its budget.

Last year’s total tax levy for municipal purposes was $80,547,357 as compared to $83,835,407 for this year. Prior to the $1,000,000 allocated from the BTMUA, the amount to be raised by taxes was set to be $84,862,407.
