Washington D.C. Police Seize 45 Firearms in a Week, Including "Ghost Guns" as Crackdown on Illegal Weapons Continues
The streets of Washington D.C. are marginally safer after the Metropolitan Police Department's (MPD) sweep pulled 45 firearms from the hands of alleged criminals in just one week. According to an MPD news release, from May 6 through May 13, officers peeled illegal handguns, shotguns, and "ghost guns" from the city's grip.

44-year-old Palmyra sentenced to serve 45 months in prison for his role in the Jan. 6 riot
A 44-year-old Palmyra man will serve more than three years and seven months in federal prison for his actions during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Leo Brent Bozell IV, 44, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge John D. Bates to 45 months in prison, three months of supervised release, and ordered to pay $4,729 in restitution. Bates found Bozell guilty of 10 charges, including four felonies, on Sept. 8, 2023.

Boy's custom-made, motorized wheelchair stolen in front of his Silver Spring house
Someone stole a 14-year-old boy’s custom-made, $40,000 motorized wheelchair from in front of his Maryland home, and it was the second time it’s happened. The wheelchair is too heavy to take inside, so the family leaves it covered in front of their Silver Spring home. When the boy’s mother exited the home Wednesday morning, the wheelchair wasn’t there.
