Coulombe Center presents 7th annual Award for Innovation
On a picture-perfect evening at Coastal Prime in Boothbay Harbor, Lincoln County Dental received the seventh annual Coulombe Center Award for Innovation on June 3. Lincoln County Dental was nominated for its innovative support of dental care for local United States Veterans. Keynote speaker Sarah Sherman, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services, spoke about the program’s humble beginnings when it received a $35,000 grant from Northeast Delta Dental to improve veterans’ care. The award quickly moved to $100,000 and recently, a $300,000 grant was secured.
Thomaston elects Kimberly Matthews to Select Board, approves RSU 13 budget
Voters in Thomaston elected Kimberly Matthews to their Select Board. She had been running against Emily McBrayer. Matthews received 178 votes, and McBrayer, 126. They also elected Olivia FitzPatrick to the RSU 13 School Board and. approved the $39 million RSU 13 budget, up $2.3 million from the current budget.

Maine humorist Tim Sample returns to the BBH Opera House
He grew up in Boothbay Harbor, even appearing on the Opera House stage in his youth, and since then Maine humorist Tim Sample has traveled the country sharing stories, well-told, of Maine characters real and imagined. On Thursday, June 27, in celebration of Windjammer Days, he returns to the historic Opera House in his hometown for an evening of laughter and insights on Maine living.

In his first meeting as an Edgecomb selectman, George Chase was appointed chairman. In his second, he resigned as chairman. On June 11, Chase decided the selectboard needed a chairman with more municipal government experience. “I’m honored by being appointed as chairman, by you two,” Chase said. “But I think with my lack of experience, it would be better if someone with more experience serves as chairman.”
