NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School softball team won 9-5 over Morristown-Beard when they played them away on Thursday, May 16. The Braves came out strong, matching the two runs Morristown-Beard put on the board in the first inning. RAHWAY, NJ -- Izaiah Robinson and Shayne Rooney each went 3-for-4 to lead Franklin to a 13-0 baseball victory over Rahway on Saturday. Rooney tripled, drove in two runs and scored three runs; and Robinson hit a double and a triple, drove in a run and scored a run. SPARTA, NJ – Sparta Little League Challenger Division baseball teams started their season with great fanfare. The Sparta High School marching band performed. The first pitch was thrown by Pope John senior Jake Holdwright, the 2023 “Buddy of the Year.” Sparta Police Department had several officers on deck and there was popcorn and snow cones for the fans at Ungerman Field. Newton Lacrosse Team Beats Hanover Park
NEWTON, NJ—The Newton High School Lacrosse team won 8-3 when they hosted Hanover Park on Wednesday, May 15 under the night lights on Palmer Field. Brenden Lynch led the Braves in scoring, putting three into the net. In goal was Newton’s only keeper, CJ Wojtach, who had 10 saves throughout the game against Hanover Park’s offense. The Newton High School Lacrosse team moves their record overall to 12-6 and their NJILL-Pooley division record to 4-2.
