Ashland nurse wins DAISY Award
Registered Nurse Cassie Little with Tamarack Health Ashland Medical Center recently received a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Little received the award for “the wonderful care she provides every day,” according to a news release. Two nurses at Tamarack Health’s Hayward facility — Kristine Anderson and Justin Celery — also received the award. More than 5,400 healthcare facilities and schools across the U.S. and in 35 countries have adopted the award as part of the DAISY Foundation’s program that honors nurses for their compassionate care to patients and families. Little is a nurse in the perioperative department at Ashland Medical Center and was nominated by a patient who had a hip replacement. “She was attentive to us,” the patient said. “You felt comforted by her words and actions. She gave us confidence that the team could perform the procedure with her knowledgeable responses to all our inquiries. I am sure I am not the first or last patient that Cassie has guided through a day surgery. She was a calming aid to a day that for me was filled with apprehension and fears. I truly appreciated her professionalism and care.”
