Several Boston Celtics fans on Thursday made sure to get ahead of the parking lot rush at TD Garden in Boston, Mass.

The Celtics were walloped 118-94 by the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinals matchup.

Celtics fans were seen leaving in droves well before the final buzzer. The mass exodus began with 4:58 left in what was then a 111-87 contest.

A 24-point lead isn’t completely insurmountable in five minutes. The 64-18 Celtics, of all teams, have shown that they’re capable of erasing big leads in a hurry this season.

But Celtics fans clearly weren’t optimistic about Boston’s chances at that point — and they were right.

Boston suffered a similar meltdown in Game 2 of their first-round series against the Miami Heat. They lost by double digits to a Heat team that used a barrage of threes to bury Boston.

Cleveland copied the Game 2 formula from Miami. The Cavaliers outshot the Celtics from the field (54.7% to 41.3%) and most significantly from the three-point line (46.4% to 22.9%).

The Cavaliers had three players hit the 20-point mark, led by Donovan Mitchell’s 29 points on 10/19 shooting from the floor.

None of the Celtics’ starters shot better than 50% from the field. They shot a combined 23/61 (37.7%).
