Seven Shepherds surrendered in Massachusetts, one in need of major surgery

BOSTON (WWLP) – Seven German Shepherds were surrendered to the MSPCA’s Boston Adoption Center after the owner became overwhelmed with too many animals.

According to MSPCA, on April 10, the dogs were picked up for a Middlesex County home and all of them but one has since been rehomed. A German Shepherd named Una is having her hip replaced which is costing the animal shelter more than $10,000.

Una is a seven-year-old Shepherd who has severe arthritis in both her hips. She is scheduled to have surgery on Monday and will be available for adoption in about two weeks.

“Poor Una has really bad arthritis in both her hips, and we knew immediately after the tests that she’ll need a hip replacement before she’s able to live the happy and comfortable life she deserves,” Deborah Bobek, director of operations at the Boston Adoption Center said.
