Kayak tours highlight Bordentown’s rich history
D&R Greenway Land Trust is hosting kayaking tours of Blacks Creek, a tributary of the Delaware River, from July through September. Experienced guides will lead along the waterway and teach about local ecosystems and wildlife. Groups will launch the kayaks, provided for paddlers along with safety equipment, from Bordentown Beach in Bordentown. The next tour is scheduled Sunday, July 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.

BORDENTOWN, NJ — Members of the National Guard and Reserves who are preparing to transition out of the Armed Forces can learn about benefits available to them at an upcoming "Transition Benefits Workshop." The Transition Benefits Workshop will be held between 8:30 a.m and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 28 at the Bordentown National Armory located at 1048 Route 206 South in Bordentown. Entries are being accepted for the Burlington County 48th Annual Juried Art Show. The show will feature selected works at the Annex Gallery from Oct. 17 through Jan. 4. Artists can submit up to three pieces for a $20 entry fee. Online registration is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Township Officials Call on Residents to 'Be Respectful' of Municipal Employees

Trenton police officer, K-9 injured in crash, authorities say
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A police officer and K-9 were injured in a crash in Trenton on Thursday. The crash happened at Second and Bridge Streets, Mayor W. Reed Gusciora said in a news release.Gusciora said an unlicensed driver sped through a stop sign and T-boned the officer's vehicle. The officer was en route to assist another officer responding to a reports of a man with a gun.Both vehicles were sent into a residential building after the crash.The officer had a head injury but was hospitalized in stable condition. The K-9 had facial lacerations but was treated and released from a veterinary hospital, Gusciora said. The driver of the other vehicle was also listed in stable condition.The building on the corner that was hit by the police car had visible damage. Another damaged SUV was also visible at the scene.The Red Cross is assisting a resident displaced at the building.Police later found a group juveniles in possession of airsoft guns, which were confiscated, Gusciora said.This article has been updated to reflect the location where the crash occurred.
