HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Boonville Senior Lofts on north 9th Street held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Wednesday morning.

The new community is designed for adults 55 and over. Boonville Mayor Charlie Wyatt says the lofts are phase 2 of a plan to create more affordable housing in the city.

“We want to be able to keep our seniors here in the city of Boonville,” said Mayor Wyatt. ” They’ve grown up here, they’ve lived their lives, they’ve raised their family, sent kids to school. And now, hopefully, we’ve got a real nice place for them to enjoy their golden years.”

Mayor Wyatt also said he’s looking forward to turning dirt in August on a $74 million development called The Edge, which would include more housing for the city.
