Lacrosse: Historic upset brings new No. 1 to North Jersey rankings
A historic upset in girls lacrosse has prompted a major change in the North Jersey lacrosse rankings. Immaculate Heart takes over at No. 1 for the first time in program history after defeating Ridgewood, 12-11, on Saturday in the Bergen County Tournament final. Hackensack High School Flag Football Team Rushes Through First Season
HACKENSACK, NJ - The High School Girls Flag Football Team recently completed its inaugural season, thanks to a grant from the New York Jets and Nike, according to school officials. According to several internet sources, "Flag football, a variant of American football in which players remove flags attached to the ball carrier instead of tackling them, will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Sparta High School Girls Lacrosse Honors 2024 Seniors
SPARTA, NJ – The high school girls lacrosse team honored their seniors before the game on Monday. Jayne Bleakly, wearing number 21, was accompanied by her mother Morgan, father Rob and brother Truman. In the fall Bleakly will be attending Clemson University to pursue a degree in business. She has been playing lacrosse for seven years, including four years on the Sparta varsity squad as an attacker. Bloomfield Softball Impressing on the Diamond This Spring
Add two more wins for the Bloomfield High softball team, which had shutout victories against Technology, on May 14, and Glen Ridge, a day later. Madison Simone pitched a no-hitter for Bloomfield in the win over Technology. Simone struck out nine, and walked one. Olivia Laub, Rylie Fabrazzo, Meagan Lardner and Sadie Coulter had two hits each for the Bengals. Laub, Fabrazzo, Oliva Gonnella and Lardner had two RBI each. Versus Glen Ridge, the Bengals were led by pitcher Teagan Weber, who gave up two hits in a complete-game effort.
