KSP Trooper Island Camp application still open
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Trooper Island Camp was developed by the Kentucky State Police in 1965 and has served kids across the state since then. KSP Post 13 Trooper Matt Gayheart said they still have a few spots left for kids, ages 10 to 12, to apply to join them at Trooper Island.
Kentucky Blood Center Visits Hazard
HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - The Kentucky Blood Center continued its campaign of mobile blood drives. On Tuesday, they hosted a blood drive in Hazard. The KBC host more than 2,000 mobile blood drives all over Kentucky throughout the year in the hopes to continue to save lives in the community.
Beshear announces nearly $850,000 for rubber mulch projects
Gov. Andy Beshear announced May 13 that $847,878 will be awarded to 23 counties, including Perry, for projects using recycled rubber. Projects range from park benches, picnic tables, landscaping, parking curbs, poured-in-place surfacing projects for walking trails, poured-in-place running track and poured-in-place playgrounds that use recycled waste tires, according to a statement from the governor's office.
ARH's Ashley Webb honored by Dream Appalachia
Ashley Webb, Appalachian Regional Healthcare system diabetes education coordinator, was recognized by regional leaders and public officials as one of the “50 Under 50” most outstanding leaders in Johnson, Lawrence, Letcher, Martin, Floyd and Pike Counties at the Dream Appalachia Poverty Conference in Inez in April, according to a statement from ARH.
