Driver hits, kills pedestrian in Bloomington

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver in Bloomington Tuesday evening.

Bloomington Police Department says the collision happened at 10:45 p.m. near 96th Street East and Old Shakopee Road, resulting in the death of a 58-year-old man just under an hour later at Hennepin County Medical Center.

The collision happened in the curbside lane on eastbound Old Shakopee Road, with police saying both the driver and a witness stopped at the scene.

The victim's identity will be released at a later time by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

The crash is under investigation.
