Say goodbye to these 8 Reno-Sparks food and drink places
Several restaurants have gone to the great kitchen in the sky — or are ready to cross the pearly gates — as eight food and drink spots in Reno-Sparks join the latest list of closures. The places run the gamut from a longtime downtown breakfast joint to a well-known coffee brand that was barely open for a year. One even lets patrons drink and throw sharp objects. Seriously. Another is a chain that’s part of a string of closures making news nationwide. So which food and drink places will locals be bidding “au revoir” to? Here is the latest rundown of restaurant closures for Reno-Sparks. Outback Steakhouse, 3645 S. Virginia St., Reno Located just north of the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa parking lot, the Reno Outback Steakhouse is one of several casualties arising from the bankruptcy of a major franchisee for the national chain. Reno's Outback Steakhouse was one of several stores mentioned in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filed by Cerca Trova Restaurant Group Holdings Inc., which also does business as Out West Restaurant Group, on Monday, Nov. 2, in a Delaware court. Outback parent company Bloomin’ Brands has since stepped in to acquire 61 restaurants from Out West for

Sacramento Japanese restaurant group opens two fan-favorite eateries in Davis
A Japanese restaurant offering ramen and all-you-can-eat sushi has arrived to Davis. Fukumi Restaurant Group combined its two popular eateries, Fukumi Chaya x Momo Katsu, and Pier 50 Sushi, in one building in Davis. The combo offers, as the owners said, “the best of both worlds.” “From fresh sushi to comforting ramen, your new favorite spot is nearly here,” read the announcement on social media. The combined dining spots at 226 F St. are part of the Fukumi Restaurant Group, a collective of Japanese restaurants throughout the Greater Sacramento area. Alongside Fukumi Chaya and Pier 50, the group owns Fukumi Japanese Noodle House, It’s Sushi and Young’s Teriyaki. Pier 50 Sushi has two other locations in the Sacramento area. Its flagship is at 1735 Arden Way. There is a location in Folsom’s outdoor Palladio Shopping Center at 330 Palladio Parkway and Fukumi Chaya’s original brick and mortar is open in the Pallado Shopping Center as well. Some of Pier 50 Sushi’s most popular rolls are the Henry Roll with shrimp tempura, spicy crab mix, torched white tuna, green onion, spicy mayo, lemon and eel sauce, and its Washington roll, with salmon, avocado, pickled burdock root, salmon and yuzu ponzu. One of Sacramento's best vegetarian eateries is in Little Saigon and only takes cash
Hot pork pho, chicken vermicelli noodles and lobster in tomato sauce are all served at this snug eatery but with a twist: it’s all vegetarian and vegan, and they only take cash. The cold season is upon us and as many people are getting out sweaters and hats, I went on a hunt for one of my favorite comfort foods: noodles and hearty plant-based meals My hunt is over, and I’m here to report on what may be one of the best restaurants in Sacramento. Tucked in the Little Saigon District there is a cozy restaurant serving a variety of hearty and light vegetarian dishes. Huong Sen Tofu, 6830 Stockton Blvd. Suite 155, is surrounded by boba tea shops, markets and traditional Asian restaurants. I tried Huong Sen Tofu as part of The Bee’s On a Budget series, which helps readers find fun and affordable ways to connect and explore the community. Here’s what I discovered: What is Huong Sen Tofu in Little Saigon like? I visited Huong Sen Tofu on a Saturday afternoon. The inside had colorful lanterns hanging from the ceiling, warm lemon walls and Buddhist portraits on the wall. To the right of the entrance there was
