Road work to start at Blythewood interstate exit. What drivers need to know
Midlands drivers will notice a changed traffic pattern near a major interstate beginning Oct. 30. The S.C. Department of Transportation will begin the process of relocating Farrow Road and Wilson Boulevard next Friday as part of the construction of the new interchange with Interstate 77 at Exit 26. Once completed, traffic will be redirected to the new location of Wilson Boulevard south of Blythewood by Monday, Nov. 2, DOT said in an announcement of the road work. New pavement markings and signs will be installed to provide direction for motorists in the area, DOT said. Drivers are asked to exercise caution during the construction work. The latest work comes a month after a long stretch of I-77 was closed for work related to the Scout Motors plant under construction nearby. All changes to the interchange are expected to be fully implemented by the end of November, pending any weather delays.
