Virginia Tech transfer quarterback Dylan Wittke explains his Minnesota Football commitment
Minnesota Gopher Football has been looking for another scholarship transfer quarterback since January when former Fresno State transfer Logan Fife flipped his commitment from the Gophers to Montana, where he would have more of a legitimate chance to start. They went through the spring with only two scholarship quarterbacks in, senior Max Brosmer and true freshman Drake Lindsey, so adding another scholarship body to the room before this fall was a priority. Minnesota has found that guy in former Virginia Tech quarterback Dylan Wittke. Wittke was a 2023 high school recruit and redshirted this past season, so he'll have four years to play four at Minnesota.
WATCH: Christiansburg softball, Jefferson Forest boys lax get wins on the road
ROANOKE, Va. – In softball action Wednesday night, Christiansburg visited William Byrd for what proved to be a top tier match-up. The Blue Demons held a 2-1 lead in the third inning before adding to the lead. A few RBI singles pushed the lead to 4-1. In the fourth inning, Purdue commit Kadyn Camper hit a three-run home run to give Christiansburg a 7-1 lead. Camper was also a force in the circle holding the Terriers to one run through 4 innings. But William Byrd did mount a comeback and actually had the go-ahead run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning. But the two base runners were stranded as Christiansburg improved to 12-1 with the 8-6 victory.
Virginia softball drops road rematch against Virginia Tech
Following an upset series victory on the road against No. 3 Duke, Virginia couldn’t muster the offense to overcome Virginia Tech Tuesday night in the second iteration of the two teams’ midweek matchups. The No. 15 Hokies (36-9-1, 17-4 ACC) dominated the Cavaliers (30-16, 13-8 ACC) in all aspects, rolling to a 6-1 win in Blacksburg.
Blacksburg boys beat PC in tennis, 8-1
Jack Powell 0-6 0-6 Ryce Washington 0-6 0-6 Wednesday; Double-Header at Home against Carroll County. “On April 23rd, the PCHS Boys Tennis team faced a formidable foe in Blacksburg, losing 1-8. However, the night ended up being a historic success for our team. For years, Blacksburg’s #1 player has dominated the courts—a streak unchallenged for over six years. Pulaski’s own Camden Hite, a two-year #1 for our team, had yet to win a set against Blacksburg. This time, however, Camden began with a display of talent and vigor by taking the lead with a game score of 5-2 in the first set. Then reality set in, as our opponent rallied to tie the set. Camden finally escaped the noise by winning the next two games and his first set victory with a score of 7-5. The second set was dominated by Blacksburg’s #1 sophomore. Their tiebreaker was headed the same way as the young player surged to a commanding 9-2 lead. That was when the miracle happened. Camden mounted a thrilling comeback, as he won each grueling and essential point to tie and then lead 10-9. His opponent won the next point to force a longer tiebreaker. But as his opponent’s second failed return crashed into the net, Camden triumphed 12-10 to ultimately silence the home crowd with a spectacular victory. As a senior, this triumph in his final match at Blacksburg was a defining and memorable moment for both of us.”
