The Broome County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man on an outstanding warrant and is asking the public for help in locating him. The office is looking for Andre Fuimo, who is wanted on warrant for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st degree. Fuimo is described as a white male, 5'11, weighing 163 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.

Binghamton Softball Sweeps Opening Double-Header Against Bryant
The Bearcats would pick up the sweep of the double-header against Bryant on Saturday to get two wins in the three game set against the Bulldogs. Binghamton would trail early going down 2-0 before Alex Musial would blast a two run homer to tie it up at two runs aside. The Bearcats would grab their first lead of the contest in the very same inning when Brianna Santos would get an RBI double to go up 3-2. Binghamton would go on to add two more runs in that inning courtesy of Ally L'Amoreaux and Shelby Carvalho. L'Amoreaux and Sarah Rende would cap it off in the bottom of the sixth inning with back to back home runs to take game one.
University receives $1.2 million for STEM educators recruitment
Nearly $1.2 million in National Science Foundation funding has been awarded to Binghamton University for an initiative that recruits students for careers in STEM education. The initiative, “Preparing Prospective Secondary Mathematics Educators through a Teacher Education Program Grounded in Community, Equity and Inclusion,” plans to train 24 4+1 mathematics majors to be middle and high school teachers over the next five years. Focused on supporting underprivileged school districts, it plans to address teacher shortages and inequities in STEM. The grant, announced by U.S. Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, will be used to award scholarships from the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program, which provides grants to higher education institutions to support training for STEM majors to enter the education field.

DOT Warns of Work on I-81 Southbound Beginning April 29th
A construction project on Interstate 81 will impact motorists beginning on Monday, April 29th. According to the NYSDOT, the project will occur at the junction of I-81 southbound and State Route 17 eastbound. It will force a lane closure in both directions between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. nightly on Monday. This work is expected to last at least seven days.

The music and creative writing departments joined for their third-annual collaboration, Word of Mouth, at the Binghamton University Art Museum on April 25. Friends, families and acquaintances of the poets, composers and singers began filing into the Art Museum as early as a half hour before the event commenced. Foldable black chairs were arranged in the main area of the gallery as well as on the overhead balcony. A piano, music stand and other arrangements were set for the performances.
