Norma Jean’s Family Restaurant has that cozy, country feel, like 'Bowman Road Cheers'
Norma Jean’s Family Restaurant in Cottonwood may be off the beaten path, but it has a loyal following of customers who crave its house-smoked sandwiches, handmade burgers and creamy soups. Home cooking is the best way to describe the meals. “Comfort food is really a good way of putting it,” said main cook Michael Goldsberry. “We’ve got quite a variety on the menu and it changes seasonally. We do salads through the summer and we do soups through the winter.” The eatery on the Tehama County side of Bowman Road is the kind of place that when regulars come through the door, the cook already knows what they want before they take a seat. “I’ll just start their order because I know what they’re going to get because they never change,” Goldsberry said. It’s also a place where out-of-towners will drive out of their way to enjoy a meal based on complimentary online reviews. Owners Lynna Gott, her brother Johnny Gott and Goldsberry say it doesn’t take long for customers to be treated like family. “It’s kind of like Bowman Road Cheers really,” Goldsberry said. “That’s kind of what we are.” Local residents who come in and don’t know one
