Snow report for Tuesday; Falling temps Wednesday
A strong cold front will pass through the region Tuesday bringing a dramatic fall in temperatures and heavy snowfall to parts of north central Minnesota. The Storm Track Weather team is calling for the heaviest snow to fall near International Falls. This area could receive 6-10 inches. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Koochiching and North Beltrami counties until 6 pm. Up to 7 inches are possible for Beltrami County. Travel in these areas will be difficult with blowing snow reducing visibility. Winds will gust as high as 35 mph bringing wind chils as low as -20 below zero.

From the National Weather Service • Duluth • February 27, 2024. A narrow band of heavy snow is expected through early afternoon, primarily in far north-central Minnesota. Snowfall rates there will be 1”/hr+ with most of the snowfall falling through about noon. A secondary area of locally higher totals will occur along the South Shore. Snowfall of 5-10 inches is expected across Koochiching County and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect. A dusting to a couple inches are possible for most other areas outside of far north-central Minnesota and the South Shore. Heaviest snowfall in northern Minnesota will be through early afternoon with it shifting into northern Wisconsin tonight into Wednesday morning. The snow will diminish or end from northwest to southeast across the Northland this afternoon into Wednesday morning, lingering longer in the snow belt of the South Shore.

A heavy narrow band of snow is likely tonight through north-central Minnesota. The highest snowfall totals will likely be Koochiching County where a Winter Storm Warning is effect from 3am to 3pm Tuesday.
