Dry and seasonable weather start to take hold
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - After a rainy and stormy night, we are going to start to see drier conditions as a cold front prepares to move through this morning. Before it does, we could see some fog form so make sure you give yourself a few extra minutes in case it is dense in some locations. Temperatures are expected to be about seasonable today with highs in the low 80s. There could be a few scattered showers pass through today ahead of another cold front this evening. Winds could become a little gusty, around 20 mph, this afternoon ahead of the front, but overall a relatively seasonable day.
PinPoint Yellow Alert Day: Chance for severe weather and localized flooding
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - After a calm past two days we could see severe weather today as a system passes to our north. The hot and sticky weather we have been seeing is due to a southerly flow. A cold front off to our west is going to bring in dry and cooler air tomorrow. Today, we will see storms move through in the evening as the cooler air starts to move in. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a marginal (1/5) risk for severe weather today as a result. The main threat will be damaging winds, but small hail. The rain showers we saw this morning helped to stabilize the atmosphere some causing the low threat for a tornado to be removed. We are also under a slight risk for excessive rainfall meaning that we could see heavy downpours leading to minor localized flooding in some areas. Some areas could see around an inch of rain or more depending on how these storms move. The models are still showing disagreement on the exact timing of the storms, but they will likely move through this evening. Highs are expected to reach the low 80s today, though that could vary a little depending on cloud coverage and the storms.
Majority for change
I would like to thank family, friends and residents of District 6 for supporting me in my campaign for city council. I thoroughly enjoyed door-to-door, one-on-one discussions. In following campaign rules, I am proud of running a fair and ethical race. Losing by 13 votes was not a loss with the third candidate votes. It shows the majority want a change.
