Downtown businesses get ready for the start of P.O.D.A.
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Several Downtown Parkersburg businesses are participating in the new PODA in Downtown. PODA stands for Private Outdoor Designated Areas. This is a specified section of Downtown that, in those limits, you can take your drinks with you while walking around. There are some guidelines, or rules, to PODA. It must stay within the designated areas and you must use the special PODA cups. You can get the cups from participating businesses.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - The start of the week has been overall quiet, but very hot as temperatures climbed into the upper 80s. The warm air is still sticking around the Mid-Ohio Valley as we start off our Wednesday morning in the low 60s. It will not get as hot today, but the humidity will take over to make it feel hotter and a bit uncomfortable. The increase in humidity is thanks to a bump in our dew point temperature. That will climb into the mid-60s this afternoon. So, this time around, we will be factoring in a heat index. It won’t be much of a difference between the actual temperature and the heat index, but it will be noticeable. The forecasted actual temperature will be in the mid-80s, and the heat index will add about 2 degrees to that this afternoon.
