Briar Creek Township, Pa. — A Berwick woman is facing charges after she beat another woman she believed was having an affair with her boyfriend, police say.

Jennifer Ann Ungureit, 31, stood outside the alleged victim's home on Water Dam Road on March 26 at 5:15 p.m., according to Officer Dustin Sabol of the Briar Creek Township police.

Ungureit was there to confront the woman over the alleged infidelity, and when the woman came outside, Ungureit began beating her, charges say. Ungureit reportedly slammed the woman to the ground, kicked her in the ribs, and punched her in the face repeatedly. There were cuts on her forehead, swelling around her left eye, and bruises along her ribs, Sabol noted.

Because she was having trouble breathing, the alleged victim was taken to Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital for treatment.

Ungureit is being charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
