Another one for the Good Old Days file comes to us today from the May 22, 1868 issue of the Delaware Gazette, which reported that Mount Vernon had seen a flurry of burglaries earlier in the week: “…[T]he houses of Jared Sperry, Samuel Brent, Wm. Henderson and Joseph Bechtelwere visited by burglars.”

20-duplex housing development approved for Mansfield’s south side
MANSFIELD — Mansfield City Council cleared the way Tuesday night for a 20-duplex housing development on the city’s south side. Local lawmakers approved rezoning 16.5 acres of the Brushwood Estates into a planned unit development classification. The area, west of South Main Street and north of Straub Road, had been zoned R-1, which only allowed for single-family dwellings.

Residents will have to wait two more weeks to see if Mansfield City Council will impose a six-month moratorium on marijuana dispensaries. Council was scheduled to vote at Tuesday's meeting but delayed the decision because two of the members were absent. Councilwoman Stephanie Zader, who has advocated to bring a marijuana dispensary to town, and council President Phil Scott, who votes only in the case of a tie, were not at the meeting.
