BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Centre County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a procession in Bellefonte on May 15 to honor 136 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The memorial service will be in the gazebo at Talleyrand Park at noon. It will honor the memory of the fallen officers while also highlighting the challenges that police officers face.

“Everyone on the force made the commitment knowing full well we may have to pay the ultimate sacrifice one day,” Bryan Sampsel, Sheriff of Centre County, said.

The Centre County Commissioners said that the event would be a great way for the community to show their appreciation for local law enforcement.
