    Friends of Charity Cruise-In and Scavenger Hunt returning to Beckley

    BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Summer is kicking off early with the 19th Annual Friends of Charity Cruise-In on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

    Automobile enthusiasts will line up their rides for everyone’s enjoyment at the Cruise-In at 9 a.m. at Marquee Cinemas. The event will be immediately be followed by the first Southern West Virginia Scavenger Hunt.

    According to Janett Green, CEO, the Cruise-In is the main pre-registration event for the Friends of Charity Auto Fair slated for July 12-13.

    Saturday’s Cruise-In is the perfect opportunity to scope out some pretty amazing vehicles and at the same time pre-register for the Auto Fair at a tremendous discount.

    Early bird registration costs $20 if completed before June 27, after which it will cost $35.

    We are excited to announce an addition to the Cruise-In. At noon, registration will begin for the first Southern West Virginia Scavenger Hunt. At 1 p.m., anyone who wishes to participate will rev up their engines and begin the thrilling scavenger hunt on wheels.

    The Southern West Virginia Scavenger Hunt is a free event held by the Backroads of Appalachia, a Friends of Coal Charity Auto Fair in-kind sponsor, and Visit Southern West Virginia.

    According to Jedidiah Smith, Director of Operations for Backroads of Appalachia, participants will navigate through a series of coordinates to checkpoints dotted across Raleigh, Summers, and Fayette Counties.

    They will collect and post a series of selfies, including their rise and/or their passengers, tagging their conquests along the way.

    Participants have until 7 p.m. to make their way to as many epic locations as they can. Prizes will be given to those that make it to the most spots.
