Meet the Candidate: Brian ‘Kip’ Buchanan for Beckley City Council – Ward 4

My name is Brian “Kip” Buchanan. I am a candidate for Ward 4 City Council. I worked for the Chamber of Commerce for 24 years. Mostly recently I was employed by Beckley Newspaper. I have been married to my wife Heather for 29 years and have 3 children, two grandchildren with a third on the way.

I chose to run for council to give voters a conservative choice. I believe we are facing many challenges for the city currently. With panhandlers and homeless on the rise, we have to address the issue head on. Along with the new form of city government with a city manager, this election is the most important for the city. We need a strong council and mayor for this new form of government. I believe I am the perfect candidate for Ward IV.

I have served on various community and non-profit boards during my time with the Chamber. I am currently the chairman of the City of Beckley Housing Authority.
